OSIA & COST Seed Lab Closure

The OSIA Board recently voted to close the Ohio Seed Improvement Association’s seed testing laboratory that has been in operation we believe since 1926. The COST seed lab will also close. The seed laboratory officially closed on June 1, 2022. Increased lab operation costs and a decline in seed and IP grain field inspection acre revenue to support the lab have been the primary factors resulting in this decision.  In addition, the OSIA building and property have been listed for sale with HER Realty on April 25, 2022 and will be vacated in the future.  Effective 10/1/22, OSIA will be located at Ohio Foundation Seeds, Inc., 11491 Foundation Rd, Hartford, OH 43013. Our field inspection and tagging services will continue as normal.

OSIA is referring its membership to other recommended Northern Region AOSCA agencies with large seed testing labs and experienced staff.  All Certified, Identity Preserved, and Quality Assurance seed lots will need a varietal purity and complete test with a copy of the results sent to OSIA prior to any tags or certificates being issued.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this and contact OSIA if you have further questions.
